Black holes

What do you think is the purpose of God having created black holes. Surely everything he creates must have a reason behind it?

I believe the "old" Earth(this) will truly be destroyed, by a black hole to make way for the new Earth.

Yes, it will be destroyed by fire. I would guess that would be our "sun" as it decays. This decay could be increased by thousand of times when God gets ready for it. Eventually taking over the earth's orbit. As far as black holes. I am sure there are a million things out there that we will never see, such as rocks or something else out there at pluto.

OK, let's discuss - Scripture says the elements will burn with fervent heat. The elements - yes, the elements ... we put them on a fancy table and memorize them in high school. What in a black hole with cause the elements to burn?

Isn't the prediction that our sun will expand to take in earth and then collapse into a black hole.
That would involve atomic disintegration I think.

From what I understand the sun isn't big enough to turn into a black hole. Your view that the sun will expand first is correct. It will expand so much that the first three planets, which includes earth, will be first burned up. Some believe the Earth will then be consumed but others believe that the sun will push the earth back far enough that it wont be engulfed after the atmosphere and water is boiled away. It is called the Red Giant Stage. I'm an astronomy buff, not like it shows or anything.

I actually started a thread about this a few weeks, maybe a couple months ago, about this very thing. Scripture says the heavens and the earth will be destroyed by fire. There are three different things meant by heaven in the scriptures. The earth's atmosphere, the universe where the stars and galaxies are, and then Gods abode. I specualted in that thread that is was possible it was not the heaven meant by the entire universe that was destroyed by fire but Earth's atmosphere. Cindy did a study on it and it seemed in her study there was support for that speculation.

Supposedly millions/billions of years. But in the thread I mention in my other post, I speculated that with science being so wrong about the timeline concerning the age of the universe, their calculations on this would be wrong too.

When the star runs out of hydrogen the inner core will start to collapse and increase in temperature. To counteract that, the outer portion expands cooling the surface. That's the simple explanation for it anyway.

New Discovery: Supermassive Black Holes Create Galaxies


The answer may have been found to the question of whether a galaxy or its black hole comes first -one of the most debated subjects in astrophysics today. A startling new study suggests that supermassive black holes can trigger the formation of stars, thus 'building' their own host galaxies. This finding could also explain why galaxies hosting larger black holes have more stars. To reach such an extraordinary conclusion, the team of astronomers conducted extensive observations of a peculiar object, the quasar HE0450-2958, also called the "naked quasar" and the "quasar without a home," because it the only one for which a host galaxy has not yet been detected.

Until now, it was speculated that the quasar's host galaxy was hidden behind large amounts of dust, and so the astronomers used a mid-infrared instrument on ESO's Very Large Telescope for the observations [2]. At such wavelengths, dust clouds shine very brightly, and are readily detected. "Observing at these wavelengths would allow us to trace dust that might hide the host galaxy," says Knud Jahnke, who led the observations performed at the VLT. "However, we did not find any. Instead we discovered that an apparently unrelated galaxy in the quasar's immediate neighbourhood is producing stars at a frantic rate."

These observations have provided a surprising new take on the system. While no trace of stars is revealed around the black hole, its companion galaxy is extremely rich in bright and very young stars. It is forming stars at a rate equivalent to about 350 Suns per year, one hundred times more than rates for typical galaxies in the local Universe.
