I have to hide my can opener so I will have a can opener when I need it. It's crazy.

I guess the pro's of not having kids means I don't have to hide anything
We just use regular cheap dish wash. I think ours costs us .99c so can't go wrong with that LOL Although on occasion I do buy the little more expensive stuff. I had fake nails for my wedding. A bit like what Cheryl had. I love french tips - I think those are the best kind of nail design/decoration/polish out there! I reckon they look very feminine and pretty! I don't like real long nails.. medium will do thanks

![]() I am SO glad to hear I'm not alone in this. Just this weekend I was fixing supper for my almost 16 year old and five of his closest friends and could not find the can opener anywhere. Finally one of my sons said, "I know where it is." [Angrily] I demanded, "WHERE???" "It's in my backpack," he said, and went and got it for me. ![]() Some days I think I'm truly losing my mind because, like I said earlier, I cannot find ANYTHING. Scissors and tape are two things I also have to hide from them (but half the time I can't remember where I hid them, so that doesn't really help). What they don't lose, they break. I can't win... ![]() But, I'm thankful for my boys! ![]() Anyway, what was that about make-up? ![]() (10 year old son was reading over my shoulder as I was on this thread yesterday and making comments: "This is supposed to be about Lipstick. Why are y'all talking about fingernails?" And, when I mentioned my soft hands he touched my fingertip and said, "Your hands don't feel that soft to me." "That's because you're touching the wrong part!!" BOYS!) |

We started out with lipstick but there's no telling where we end up and it's ok with all of us. That's what happens when he reads over shoulders. Next we'll be talking about 10 year old boys. LOL.

Speaking of fingernails, I just tore my pinky fingernail down to the quick a few minutes ago while taking the packaging off the turkey. It had a mesh wrapper that jerked my fingernail right off.
That hurt! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Ok, here are some recipes I found to make your own home made facials and scrubs. I've tried most of them and they really do make your face feel so nice and soft!
Egg Yolk and Honey Mask
**This leaves your face and skin feeling fresh and soft. Can be done twice a week. Scrubs
I've also used this on my face, and it makes your face nice and smooth. Aspirin Mask
** aspirin keeps acne away, and aspirin masks should only be used once a week (aspirin can dry out your skin if you use it too much). (I have not tried this one yet as I don't have any aspirin) Peppermint lotion is used for a wide range of things.. and it is very refreshing. Hot oil treatment for hair
(I have not tried this one yet either as I don't have olive oil) Hydration Mask
You can also do a mask using egg whites. The egg whites tighten and cleanse the skin leaving you feeling refreshed. When doing an egg white mask, smooth onto face, leave on for 10 minutes and then rinse off. Steam Treatment Fill a large bowl with boiling water. Place face over the bowl and cover both your head and bowl with a towel. Doing this for 10 minutes once a week will open and clean out your pores. Make sure you splash cold water on face after the steam treatment to close up the pores. When moisturising, don't dry your skin completely as this helps the moisturiser to soak into your skin much easily. The sequence should always go like this: Cleanse skin > massage in a scrub > steam face > massage in a mask > splash cold water on face to close pores > moisturise.

Thanks Ruthanne
this has been fun! I like Samilad's suggestion for the next one (calling it Beauty Chat). This is kind of what I had in mind when I tried to start a "Slow Chat" thread about a year ago, but it never really went anywhere. I appreciate everyone's participation in keeping this one going!Blue, love all the natural recipes! So tonight 10 year old DS and I had been in Walmart forever and even as the words, "We're not stopping to look at anything else, I'm ready to get out of here" were coming out of my mouth, I saw the fingernail polish display and made a quick detour to that aisle. I wanted again to get one of those tiny 98 cent bottles of glittery polish, for my toenails. I'm not sure what is getting into me wanting to try out crazy colors on my toenails because I'm normally very conservative ~ maybe it's middle age. ![]() As I was looking, DS noticed the fake nail display and was completely taken aback by it. He apparently was unaware of the world of press-ons (or glue-ons, or whatever they are) and couldn't BELIEVE they have fingernails for sale. "If God had wanted fingernails to look that way, He would've made them that way!!" Come to think of it, I'll bet when she was first created, Eve DID have nice fingernails! |

It's fun to look at life from a child's perspective. Yes, it would be strange to him that they actually sell fingernails in the store.
![]() Right now I have very long fingernails on my left hand and managed to get through all the holiday preparation without breaking or having to cut them off. But, soon I will be. I let them grow for a bit, then cut them off. That what you did, Leigh, on the turkey wrapper is what I usually end up doing, so I just rather cut them off. My right had has a different story entirely. They are usually the nails that get the abuse, so they are shorter. That's why I wore fake nails for my wedding......so they would match. lol |

WOW! I can't believe it -- this is the first time I've ever had so many replies to a thread I started!! We're almost at the end!

Congratulations Leigh. Let's keep it going. Sometimes it's all about timing. I'll start something and then nobody responds and then I'll do it a couple months later and have 250 responses. Go figure.
